After reportedly spending three days inside the cramped quarters of a 35-foot wooden sloop, 28 undocumented Haitian immigrants were apprehended on Cat Island Saturday night, authorities reported.
Deputy Director of Immigration Donald Clarke said yesterday that the immigrants were apprehended around 9:30 p.m. He said authorities were alerted by concerned citizens who informed them that the group had landed at Devil's Point.
Clarke said police and customs officers responded to the scene where the immigrants were captured.
