Haitian man arm being chopped off with a "Machete" in the Dominican Republic

A video of a Haitian man's arm being chopped off with a "Machete" in the Dominican Republic. Many Haitians live inside the Dominican Republic in impoverished sugar cane communities -Known as batey (Sugar worker's town).

Quick back ground:

Every year for seventy years or more, seasonal immigrants from Haiti have arrived to work in the sugar harvest in the Dominican Republic. The migrants are lodged in rooms at the batey sometimes with no facilities and expected to work cropping sugar cane in long days with hard hours. In the past, Dominican heads of state paid Haitian heads of state a finder's fee to round up large numbers of Haitians. These days, land owners pay headhunters, a fee for each cane cutter the headhunter provides. A headhunter may entice the prospective laborer with promises of a work permit, and often requires a large fee from the prospective immigrant. When the Haitians immigrants arrive, they may find that they are not free to leave the batey until they finish the labor, and that the conditions are absolutely deplorable. Effectively, becoming "Slaves" to the land owners and Headhunters.

We need your help to raise awareness in the news media and make sure that they cover this story. Something must be done to bring this deplorable act to an end. Please forward the link below and send it to the following news media email addresses:

It Doesnt Make Any Sense

It's easy to blame somebody else for your problems and shortcomings. The Dominican Republic is not Haiti's problem. In fact there are over a million illegal Haitians in the Dominican Rep. which is creating a lot of financial strain to this neighbour country. The D.R. is also a third-world country and cannot absorb this massive occupation of undocumented people. Haitian women are brought across the border on a daily basis to give birth in the D.R. Can you explain the reason? If Dominicans mistreat Haitians so much, why on earth do Haitians keep going to the D.R. non stop?

Unacceptable Behavior

I don't accept this type of behavior, but despite this unfortunate incident, What I don't understand is why Haitians keep looking at or blaming the Dominicans as the source of a "conspiracy" for their demise? The DR is a country in financial turmoil as well and are entitle to enforce mass migrations to the island, Haitians need to start blaming their pass corrupt leaders for the last 164 years. At the end of the day, if Haitians are being mistreated in the DR, why bother migrating there, when they can go anywhere else in the Caribbean, I personally believe their is much more behind their hatred towards the Dominicans than social mistreatment, but whatever the reason, the last thing Haitians want to do is make DR an "official" enemy, it would be a losing battle where it can land Haiti in the history books of "irrelevancy none existent" in the "Once Upon a Time" chapter. Just my 2 cents.
