US Virgin Islands Delegate joins congressional visit to Haiti

WASHINGTON, USA: US Virgin Islands Delegate to Congress Donna Christensen on Monday joined her colleagues on a four-day congressional delegation to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The Delegation, led by Congressman John Conyers Jr, will be overseeing the humanitarian and political challenges facing the nation of Haiti. Members will be reviewing the operations of government agencies involved in Caribbean trans-shipment and drug interdiction efforts, legal immigration and humanitarian and development issues. This is Christensen’s fifth visit to Haiti. “I am looking forward to hearing first-hand the challenges facing the country and meeting with Haiti’s leaders,” said Christensen. “It is clear that the United States has a vested interest in promoting stability and growth in Haiti.
